Pottery for gardens, birds, and wildflowers
In my small atelier in the Pyrénées, I make terracotta and faïence pottery for the garden. But the roots of this work go back to my grandmother's seaside garden in Marielyst, Denmark.
Her garden was never manicured—it was alive with wildflowers, insects, and birdsong. She sang to the birds, and they seemed to sing back. From her I learned that art and nature belong in everyday life.
That memory followed me through founding Green Spaces (the first green coworking space in the US), being featured in The New York Times and BBC World News, and eventually moving to France in 2018. Here, surrounded by mountains, I began exploring ceramics—and the birds came back into my work.
But as I researched what birds and pollinators truly need, I discovered something surprising: birdhouses and water help, but the most important thing is native plants. And many plants sold in garden centers contain hidden pesticides that harm pollinators.
So my atelier took on a new purpose.
Today my pots come planted with native Pyrenean wildflowers from small local nurseries. They're starter habitats: keep one on your balcony for a season, then plant the wildflower in your garden so it can spread. The pot becomes ready for another native plant, and the cycle continues.
In my shop you'll find birdhouses, water bowls, garden pots, and handcrafted pieces meant to live outdoors. Each one carries a memory of my grandmother singing to the birds by the Baltic Sea. More flowers, more insects, more birds.
One small pot at a time.
